Please tell all of my friends to get married in California because this was the most fun thing ever and I wish I could relive this week over and over again. Also, please excuse my run-on sentence. Watch a recap of our week below!

Call me a tourist.....

I'm a firm believer that adventure can be found anywhere! Today we did everything for FREE. That's right, ya heard me. FREE. Here are my tips for seeing your own city as a tourist:

1) Public Transportation is always a must.

You may think that this is as tacky as it gets, but you are so wrong! Whether it's a train, trolley or subway public transportation is a great way to save gas while also creating some prime time to chat with pals. Grab a cup a coffee & ride it to the end of the line!

2) See things from a new perspective.

There's no need to pay high prices to see your city from new heights. Pick out a skyscraper or building that should promise great views. You're one elevator ride away from seeing things from the best view money can't buy!!!

3) Break out from your go-to places

As tempting as it is to go back to your usual dining, break free from the norm! Use Yelp or Urbanspoon to find some new great places to get your grub on.

Here's a little video of us being hometown tourists. Enjoy!

"Average" Days

11/5/2015

Recently, I have caught myself rushing through my "average" days so I can get to the more memorable moments of life. When in reality, the best ones are the goofy days filled with Chicago dogs & umbrella dances.

This is a little video I put together from this past weekend. Nothing we did was outrageously glamorous or magnificent, but the "average" moments I got to spend with my whole family together will stick with me forever.

Stop. Think. Thank.

In today's day and age we have discarded the art of writing a kind note. We have replaced stationary and thank you notes for a quick text, snapchat or even a single emoji. Our act of gratitude is no longer meaningful, but it has become a passive process. Our words are empty and have no thought or emotion behind them. We simply speak with no previous thoughts.

As a kid in elementary school we were taught to stop, think and speak before we said anything that was not nice. Well, I believe the same process applies for when you ARE saying something nice. Allow your words to have more meaning than whatever comes to mind. It is impossible to create something meaningful when you are doing 6 other tasks in the same moment. STOP what you are doing, THINK about how you feel and SPEAK words of praise into other people. Allow your words to carry meaning by giving them time to develop.

My goal for the week is to make my "thank you's" count!  If you are truly expressing gratitude towards someone, they are deserving of much more than a convenient text message. I challenge you to sit down and write them a note on that pretty stationary of yours that is most likely collecting dust.

I promise seeking out these people and these opportunities to show gratitude will leave you feeling more joyful. Affirming people for their good works can leave you feeling great, too. If that's the case then go hunker down in a trendy coffee shop or cozy chair, and get writing!

If you are thinking: "But Claire, I don't even have stationary or thank you notes!"

Well, you are in luck because I have added multiple stationary sets at different price values so that you really have no excuse.

Now, go get to it! Write a note.

xoxo,
Claire Marie

    a lil background

This is just a space to write down some words when (more like if) they come.
